Electrified

What are the benefits of driving a hybrid or all-electric Toyota?

Fuel Efficiency

When you drive a fuel-efficient vehicle, you’re taking it easy on the earth — and your wallet. Many Toyota vehicles have been named Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs) or Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (SULEVs), which means they are emitting very few pollutants into the air. You can expect incredible mpg from these models as well, meaning you’ll be able to go longer between trips to the gas pump. For example, the new 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE or XLE can offer you up to 50 mpg combined, as estimated by the manufacturer.1 We’re willing to bet your old ride can’t quite measure up.

Tax Incentives

Driving a Toyota electrified vehicle can pay off when tax season rolls around! Many electrified vehicles qualify for federal and state tax incentives. These incentives are offered as a way to boost the market for alternative fuel vehicles, and they can make it even more affordable to switch to a sustainable model! Check out what incentives are available in your state at the Alternative Fuels Data Center.

Long-Term Savings

Beyond the short-term savings that incentives can provide, switching to an electrified vehicle can also result in long-term savings. How? With an all-electric model (like the all-new 2024 Toyota bZ4X), you won’t have to pay to maintain a gas-powered engine (with regular oil changes, belt replacements and more). If you want a hybrid model instead, you can look forward to saving money on gas. This is because, in addition to a gas-powered engine, an electric motor and battery expand the vehicle’s mpg, allowing you to drive farther without frequent stops for fuel.

Toyota Hybrid and All-Electric FAQs

In some cases, yes — but it’s important to consider the full picture. A vehicle’s MSRP doesn’t necessarily reflect the total cost of ownership over time. Fully electric vehicles have lower operating costs than their gas-powered counterparts, and owning one will allow you to cut your gas budget to zero. A hybrid model will decrease your gas expenses considerably, helping you save money over time as well

Regenerative braking is an innovative system that allows a hybrid vehicle to recapture kinetic energy produced through braking. This keeps power from being wasted and helps the hybrid battery recharge as you drive.

In the last few years, the number of charging stations in the United States has grown exponentially. If you choose a plug-in hybrid or all-electric Toyota, you can charge it just like you charge your phone at night. It’s easy to have a charging wall box installed in your garage, or you can stop at a nearby public charging station. Toyota offers a full guide to charging electrified vehicles that we recommend reading. If you choose a hybrid Toyota, all you’ll have to do is get gas to keep the engine running.

Charging times will vary and are dependent on factors such as outdoor temperature, current battery temperature, charging equipment, battery condition and car condition. You will find specific charging times in the technical specifications for each available electrified model.

Your new 2024 Toyota model will be covered by a 36-month/36,000-mile Basic Warranty and a 60-month/60,000-mile Powertrain Warranty.2 If you choose a hybrid, the hybrid systems in your vehicle will be protected for 96 months or 100,000 miles.3 The hybrid battery is covered for 120 months or 150,000 miles.4

Planning to buy an all-electric vehicle instead? Your model will be covered by the Toyota Electric Vehicle Drive Components Warranty (transaxle, traction battery, inverter with converter) which gives you 96 months/100,000 miles of coverage.5
